General survey includes the application of a range of investigative and trapping techniques applied indiscriminately to assess general biodiversity values specific to a given project area. Survey may include the identification of significant habitat types and essential wildlife corridors through to the implementation of ethically approved trapping techniques to determine species biodiversity.

Trapping and infield investigative methods employed by QFC include:
Elliot, Hair and Cage traps: mammals;
Funnel traps: reptiles, amphibians and mammals;
Anabat and harp traps: microbats;
Call broadcast: mammals, amphibians and birds; 
Spotlighting and nocturnal active searching: mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds;
Diurnal active searching: mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds
